Date & Time: Tuesday, September 9, 2025 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM
Venue: Nasu Seminar House (Asian Rural Institute)
Language: Japanese
At Asian Rural Institute, we have been offering the Dignity Workshop for eight years as part of our curriculum for participants. The workshop is led by Associate Professor and University Chaplain Jeffrey Mensendiek of Obirin University, who is also the translator of Donna Hicks’ book Dignity: Its Essential Role in Resolving Conflict (published in Japanese as 尊厳のリーダーシップ by Shobunsha).
Among the many classes offered at ARI, this workshop has always been especially well-received by participants. Last year, thanks to Professor Mensendiek’s generosity, we held a special session in Japanese that was also open to people outside of the participant body. Even with very little publicity, more than 30 program participants joined, and the workshop was greatly appreciated.
Following requests from those who joined last year, we reached out to Professor Mensendiek, and we are pleased to announce that we will once again hold the Dignity Workshop on Tuesday, September 9, from 1:30 to 4:00 PM at the Nasu Seminar House, located next to ARI, to coincide with his next visit for ARI classes.
What is dignity? How does understanding dignity expand our understanding of humanity and the world? We warmly invite you to experience this together and to join the growing circle that fosters a culture of dignity.
We look forward to your participation.
